FIPO Clinical Governance Advisory Committee
(FIPO CGAC)

This committee reports to the FIPO Board and is headed by Dr Gerard Panting. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the profession, the hospital providers, the Healthcare Commission and others about matters of professional and clinical importance. The prime function of FIPO CGAC is to maintain the highest standards of care for the patient.

Anaesthesia in Cataract Surgery

Some have questioned the need for an anaesthetist to be present during cataract surgery. The actual percentage of cases without an anaesthetist is uncertain and this question may be answered by the cataract audit.  The professional aspects of this matter are explored here with a short review from the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland and the British Ophthalmic Anaesthesia Society.
